Interview With Lady Franknstein

I am really exited about this week's interview with Lady Franknstein I have been a fan of this young lady every since I stumbled across her on Twitter a few months back. She is one of a kind. I have not had the pleasure of working with her, but I hope one day to make the trip across the pond the be able to work with her. She implies the word free spirit. From the picture that accompany this interview you will see that she is as beautiful as she is talented.

1. What is the meaning behind your name Lady Franknstein?
I borrowed it from the B-grade, Italian horror movie from the 60’s. I’m not giving it back ;)

   2. Where were you born, and grow up?
A small seaside town in the south west of Western Australia, called Albany. To be more precise, I grew up about 20 km from there, on Two People’s Bay Nature Reserve. Google it, it’s beautiful.

   3. How old were you when you starting modeling?
I was a late starter, about 23.

   4. What made you want to be a model?
My first shoot was just a favor for a friend’s clothing company, but it was such a buzz that I kept it up.

  5. What style do you prefer when modeling?
I’m all about the rock’n’roll!

  6. Is modeling a full time job? If not what else do you do?
Not for me – I’m first & foremost a body piercer.

   7. What type of photographer do you like. One that directs every move, or one that lets you just do your own thing?
A balance of the two works best for me.

   8. What do you like best. To shoot on set, or to shoot on location, and why.
I prefer location shoots, it’s a bit more challenging but also rewarding.

   9. Do you go on shoots alone, or do you take an escort?
Mostly alone. Sometimes I take a make-up artist friend but so long as I feel comfortable with the photographer then I don’t feel like I need a chaperon.

  10. How do your parents feel about you being a model?
They’re proud of me – some shoots are maybe a little racy but they’ve always encouraged me to do what makes me happy.

  11. Do like to work alone, or do you mind working with other models.
I love working with other models, it really adds an extra dimension to the shoot.

  12. Sexual Orientation?
I don’t mind what’s downstairs, I’m more about the person!

  13. Do you like working with male or female models better?
Either – I do love boobies though.

  14. What is your favorite junk or comfort food?
Pizza. Some kind of authentic-tasting Italian pizza would be perfect.

  15. What do you sleep in?
Normally it’s a vest & pants.

  16. Dogs or Cats?
That’s a tricky one…used to be cats but I think I’m going through more of a dog phase now!

  17. How many tattoos do you have?
About a hundred hours worth, no idea how many individual tattoos that is though…maybe about 40?

  18. Showers or Baths?
Baths for relaxing, showers if I’m in a hurry.

  19. When you are in front of the camera what do you feel?
That depends on the shoot, it could be sexy, flirty, nasty, coy, feisty - whatever works!

  20. What do you like to do on your days off?
Days off, what are those?! No, I like hanging out with friends, going out dancing, normal stuff!

  21. Do you like interacting with your fans?
Yes, definitely. I try to answer all emails, tweets & fan mail.

  22. How do you deal with fans that become let's say a problem
Luckily I’ve never actually been in that situation…and hopefully won’t be!

  23. Are you single?
Sure am.

  24. T.V Or Computer?
Mostly computer…and DVDs!

  25. Have you had a bad experience during a photo shoot?
Nope, never. There have been shoots that aren’t as fun as others but it’s all learning experiences.

  26. What will you not do on a photo shoot?
I’ll only do what I feel comfortable doing with that photographer. Okay that maybe sounds a little dodgy but you get what I mean!

  27. How long do you think you will continue to model?
So long as people keep asking me to shoot.

  28. What is the one thing most people don't know about you that would shock them if they knew?
I’m a secret fan of cheesy dance music. Is that shocking? I’m not sure!

  29. When home alone what is your perfect day?
Sleep in. Lazy brunch. Hang out in my pj’s & listen to music really loud…

Both

Interview with Kori Lei

This week as promised I bring you fashion model Kori Lei. If you have not had the chance to see Kori's work in the past I have to say you have been missing the boat. Kori is one the most expressionist models I have ever seen. She uses her entire body when in front of the camera. More models should take a page out Kori's book, and pump up their images just a bit. In short this is one fantastic model. Grab her while you can, because she is going to be jet setting in no time.

1. What is the meaning behind your name?

Kori Lei, is an alias, my parents met at a Prince concert so theatricality is part of my DNA. Modeling has given me the opportunity to experiment. "Lei" actually comes from my middle name Leah, I decided to change the spelling to Leia (like the Star Wars princess). Dropping the "a" seemed to give it more punch.

Kandace Leah was my father's idea, I might adopt the original again. I don't tend to attach much permanence to labels, I think in another 20 years I might try something different, same initials.

2. Where were you born, and grow up?

I'm from Pikesville, Maryland. I just look like I'm from anywhere else in the world.

3. How old were you when you starting modeling?

. I began modeling this past Summer.

4. What made you want to be a model?

When I discovered fashion it was as a blogger. I was immersed in trends, interviewing serious models, but I never saw myself as any sort of contender. They were always these tall, otherworldly women. I'm very much of the earth. When I opened magazines I never saw any women who resembled me, so I never entertained the idea.

My first shoot fell into my lap, universal twitch, I like trying new things, that Summer was dull. I was climbing through riverbanks in heels, hugging cliff and graffiti under an overpass. I took a few photos, made a portfolio for the heck of it.

5. What style do you prefer when modeling?

I'm a minimalist. I'd like to run screaming from commercial. I like to push my fashion boundaries. I think like a European and taboos amuse me. I've been craving edgy lifestyle inspired editorials. Recently inspired by the greats; Cindy, Linda, Cristy. There is a real strength, glamor, and sense of fun there that seems largely missing from fashion today. I'd love to bring that back.

6. Is modeling a full time job? If not what else do you do?

Right now I am very focused on modeling. I work in promotions but my ultimate goal is to make my living as an artist.
Models get to experiment with a wide variety of genres and mediums. I couldn't ask for anything more. I plan on testing the waters for a few more months to see what happens. Give it my all, if it's a pipe dream, go back to kicking butt behind the scenes, focus more on the other things I like to do.
7. What type of photographer do you like. One that directs every move, or one that lets you just do your own thing?

I need a sense of flow so too much direction can be stifling. However, attention to detail shows me that they are as engaged as I am. Please pull on my clothes to make sure they're straight, push my hair out of my face. I'm an animal!

I thrive with photographers who are confident enough to help me streamline my instincts. It's a fine line between an image I'm proud of and one nobody will ever see.

8. What do you like best. To shoot on set, or to shoot on location, and why.

I like to mix it up but keep it balanced. I'd love to play with city scapes and incorporate bystanders. Guerrilla fashion, shooting in places where it's not allowed, always creates good photos and memories.

9. Do you go on shoots alone, or do you take an escort?

I may be a small girl but I've got enough attitude to keep myself safe. I'm streetwise, if I had doubts I wouldn't go in the first place.

10. How do your parents feel about you being a model?

My dad is very encouraging. He likes showing my photos to his friends and coworkers, coming to shows. I believe he's both proud and surprised his DNA turned out the way it did.

11. Do like to work alone, or do you mind working with other models?

I like either, depends on the photographer's skill and style as well as the models.

12. Sexual Orientation?

 I don't entertain labels.

13. Do you like working with male or female models better?

I've worked with another girl, never with a boy, I'd like to experiment with gender tension, larger co-ed groups.

14. What is your favorite junk or comfort food?

I've been Macrobiotic for a couple weeks so junk food isn't really in my vocabulaty at the moment. However, I will always have a hankering for Sticky Fingers Vegan bakery in Columbia Heights, that faux tuna melt is amazing!

15. What do you sleep in?
Depends on the climate and context.

16. Dogs or Cats?
I like all Earthlings irregardless of species. However I live with a cat and a rabbit.

17. How many tattoos do you have?
Zero

18. Showers or Baths?

Bath if I have a good tub, if not I go for the shower.

19. When you are in front of the camera what do you feel?

In front of the camera, I'm quiet, hardly speaking, as if I'm in a haze or a dream. When the vibe is right I slow down and clear my mind, focus on whatever I want to or nothing at all.

20. What do you like to do on your days off

Exercise, organize, pull wardrobe, read, watch classic movies, visit museums, take notes.

21. Do you like interacting with your fans?

I believe in a sense of creative community. On a slow day the tribe can be a pick me up and when I get too excited they can keep me cool.

22. How do you deal with fans that become let's say a problem

It's only a problem if I care.

23. Are you single?

I'm independent, way too focused on my goals to care for another human. It would be unfair.

24. T.V Or Computer?

I don't own a TV or watch TV shows online. I designed my home to be entertaining otherwise.

25. Have you had a bad experience during a photo shoot?

Getting sub-par photos back is the worst part of an unprofessional experience.

27. How long do you think you will continue to model?

I'll leave that up to fate. Depends heavily on the next chunk of time.

28. What is the one thing most people don't know about you that would shock them if they knew?

I litter!

Actually I don't litter but that would be shocking.

29. When home alone what is your perfect day?

Watching classic films, playing with my pets, brainstorming, blogging, reading, lots of tea.

30. Do you have a wish-list for fans to send you stuff?

Interview With Knave Karina

 ___________________________________________

I just got a new sponsor for my blog please take a few minutes, and visit them as a thank you. I have watched a few of the movies here, and they will have you on the floor. Go check it out
RiffTrax - We don't make movies, we make fun of them!
 ____________________________________________
OK, OK I Know I promised you an interview with adult actress Kylee Kross this week, but things did not go as I had planned. Be rest assured that interview is coming soon. Instead we have something I am sure you are going to love. We sat down with artistic nude model Knave Karina, and picked her brains for a bit, and now I get to share her answers with you. Once again I have had the pleasure of working with this model in the past, and all I can say is WOW! What an amazing presence in front of the camera. At just over 5' tall she poses as if she were over 6' without heels. If you are a photographer, and you get the chance to work with Karina, don't pass up on the opportunity, you will not be sorry.

Now The Interview.

  1. What is the meaning behind your name?
KnaveKarina came about from a simple need for a username. My process was to use a thesaurus to find words that worked well. I believe the original search was for the word 'rogue' and knave popped up. It worked as an alliteration as well.

   2. Where were you born, and grow up?
Technically, I grew up in Washington DC, New York City, India, Saudi Arabia, and around London. My family spent a lot of time traveling.

   3. How old were you when you starting modeling?
My very first shoot was with a friend when I was 16. I didn't start seriously modeling until I was 20.

   4. What made you want to be a model?
I started out as a photographer and migrated to the other side of the camera. People wanted photos of me and I obliged. It turned into something incredibly fun so, here I am.

   5. What style do you prefer when modeling?
Most of the work I do is artistic and glamour nudes. I also enjoy clothed shoots when other people give me things to wear.
  6. Is modeling a full time job? If not what else do you do?
Modeling is not my full time job. I build and manage websites for select individuals and small businesses.

   7. What type of photographer do you like. One that directs every move, or one that lets you just do your own thing?
My ideal photographer is one that is flexible with spur-of-the-moment ideas but, know where they would like to go with them.

   8. What do you like best. To shoot on set, or to shoot on location, and why.
I enjoy shooting both in and out of studio although I currently would like to do more out of studio shots or more unique sets in studio for the sake of having some variety.

  9. Do like to work alone, or do you mind working with other models.
While I do not mind working with other models, I find it best to work with those that I have chemistry with on a personal level. Lack of chemistry really shows within a piece and detracts from the overall image.

  10. Do you like working with  male or female models better?
Currently, I have only worked with female models.

  11. What is your favorite junk or comfort food?
My comfort food is Pioneer Woman's Spicy Mac and Cheese

  12. What do you sleep in?
That's an odd question. Typically, I sleep in a bed but, I will sometimes fall asleep on the couch while working.

  13. Dogs or Cats?
Both. I love dogs for their energy and loyalty and cats for their easy going attitude.

  14. How many tattoos do you have?
I have absolutely no ink to speak of nor do I have plans to get any.

  15. Showers or Baths?
Showers on normal days, baths on bad ones. Showers take 10 minutes, baths are for serious relaxation and reflection.

  16. What do you like to do on your days off
Haha! What days off? I'm pretty much always working on one thing or another. When I do have free time, I'm either reading or playing video games.

  17. Do you like interacting with your fans?
Interacting with my fans is humbling as well as flattering. I'm still not entirely sure how to take some of their compliments but, I do enjoy the things they have to tell me.

  18. How do you deal with fans that become let's say a problem
There are ignore, block, and report buttons for that. Of course, that's AFTER civil discussion fails.

  19. Are you single?
  Not at all.

  20. How long do you think you will continue to model?
As long as there is a demand for photos of me and I continue to enjoy it, I'll keep posing.

  21. What is the one thing most people don't know about you that would shock them if they knew?
My music collection tends to shock people. In terms of genres, it's all over the place. It includes The Beatles, Sinatra, Pink, Evanescence, Guns and Roses, Tori Amos, Eminem, Disturbed, and show tunes, to name a few.

  22. When home alone what is your perfect day?
Eating sushi, watching Gone with the Wind, or having all day to play World of Warcraft.

  23. Do you have a wish-list for fans to send you stuff?
The idea of a wish list hasn't occurred to me. I'd honestly prefer to stick to receiving messages and the occasional piece of art.

  24. Where else can fans find you.
All of the sites I am on are linked from my main webpage, KnaveKarina.com

Karina can also be found on these sites

OK, there you have. I hope you enjoyed reading that as much as I did. Be sure to check out Karina on her many websites, and support her. Remember you heard it hear first. This young lady is going to become a household name within the next 5 years.

Drop Box

Dropbox offer a free version of 2GB and Pro versions for 50 for $9.99 and 100GB for only  $19.99 per month. They also offer referral incentives for free memory upgrades.

Backup Features:
Dropbox online data backup service offers nearly every backup tool you are looking for, with the exception of the ability to configure idle backups (but users have suggested this feature in their forums, so hopefully they add this feature soon).

With this service you can easily schedule automatic backups and you can control bandwidth usage. Its online file manager is incredibly easy to use and finding and sharing files is simple. You can also easily configure email notifications, computers connected to the service, view your backup and memory status and upgrade your account. In addition, unlike many services you can access your files from multiple computers.

One of the coolest things about Dropbox is it keeps 30 a day undo history if all of your files; this includes access to files deleted from your local drive. Dropbox also offers an unlimited undo feature called “pack-rat” (requires additional payment).

Remote/ Mobile/ Web Access:
Dropbox offers some of the best sharing tools I have seen provided by an online backup service. They provide everything I was looking for in terms of sharing tools and they also offer a free iPhone/iPod touch, and Blackberry application.

With drop box you can share folders or image galleries with the public, through a link or by sharing with a controlled group. It is easy to create a folder for sharing, you simply create the folder with the items you want to share then send out invitations to those you want to share the folder. That's all there is to it.

Security:
Dropbox can secure your data and image; it uses SSL for secure transfers and all files are encrypted with AES-256 before being stored on their servers.

Public folders are viewable by anyone who can find them.
Photo gallery links give access to anyone you share that link with to the gallery, though they cannot access   other areas of your account.
You can also create additional folders in the parent folder that can be shared.
Backup Space/ Price:
The pricing options on Dropbox are pretty good, and very reasonable.
    The Basic Package 2GB-Free
    The Pro 50 Package   50GB-$9.99 p/m
    The Pro 100 Package 100GB-$19.99

The will also give you an extra 250MB of storage for every referral, up to 3GB. The do not however have an unlimited option like Elephant Drive, Carbonite, or Mozy

Ease of Use:
The online interface for Dropbox is pretty easy to use, and comparable to other products. However, the desktop interface is a bit different and may seem confusing at first, since it looks about the same as any Windows type folder. The only difference you will notice is the status dot on the folders and if you right click it will offer you Dropbox options such as browse via web interface, revisions and copy public link. Otherwise, as mentioned the web interface is easy to use and clean. It also organizes and displays images very well.

Help/Support:
For support you can contact Dropbox by email only. We would have really liked to have seen this service support technical and customer support by chat or telephone as well. Online they post quite a few facts organized by topic and operating system. They also host a tour, a forum and a wiki module that will allow you to post or read others posts on tips and tricks, features, add-ons and more.

Summary:
Dropbox is an excellent product, with powerful sharing and syncing abilities. Just try out the 2GB free version and you see what we are raving about.

Sign up here, and give this a try. I am sure you will be as happy with it as I have been.
